Rock Miller Wins Prestigious Position!
Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 11:59AM Rock Miller, the City of Long Beach California’s consulting traffic engineering genius, has been elected by his peers to be the next Vice President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, ITE. Miller was a clear favorite among several worthy contenders. This puts him in position to assume the President role the following year.
Miller has been instrumental in three innovative projects in Long Beach for the Bike Long Beach program. The Green Sharrow Stripe on 2nd Street in Belmont Shore has proven successful during its first year as a catalyst for cyclists to ride safer in this busy retail district. Southern California’s first bike boulevard is being constructed right now and is a largely Rock Miller design. And downtown the protected lanes on 3rd and Broadway are under construction following Miller’s engineering leadership.
In addition Rock has surveyed the entire city and is currently leading the effort to update the city’s bike master plan to incorporate state of the art design techniques for Long Beach.
Long Beach’s goal to become the most bicycle friendly city in America is being realized in large part due to Rock Miller’s vision, practical knowledge, and his leadership skills deployed to make things happen.
Congratulations to our “Rockstar” Rock Miller!
